Description / 1787 1C CONNFC Miller-43.1-Y PCGS MS61BN POP=2/4

Well-struck and centered on a full, round planchet that has toned a medium, chestnut brown. The surfaces are frosty and hard, apart from a planchet flaw that is most visible on the reverse, where a pair of shallow depressions run through the female figure's torso. As alluded to above, the present piece was struck while the Company for Coining Copper was minting Fugio Cents for the United States government, and in addition to being struck from copper intended for these pieces, the present dies were made using the same F punch used in the word FUGIO on our earliest federal cents. The present specimen is of condition census quality, and would be at home in an advanced Connecticut or Fugio set.
