TIED FINEST KNOWN - POP 2/0
$675,000.00

This may be one of the most consequential notes to become available for sale in the last several years. I say this because this is the FINEST KNOWN (tied with one other from the Chicago district) $10,000 note certified by PMG.  And when you hold this note in hand, it becomes clear why this note has achieved such a high grade.  The first quality most people will recognize is the print detail.  Since this was one of the first notes printed from the plate (11th sheet printed, D plate position) the detail throughout the note is exceedingly high.  Secondly, the color is phenomenal especially of the light green seal and the way it contrasts with the black ink and the paper’s white background.  And lastly, the centering is near perfect and makes a strong argument for a superb gem 67 upgrade.  One could go on and on with adjectives describing how great this note is but it comes down to this basic fact - this is FINEST KNOWN, HIGHEST DENOMINATED NOTE EVER PRINTED BY THE UNITED STATES GOVERNMENT for general circulation and when other $10,000 notes in PMG 64 EPQ holders sell in auction for $480,000 (HA 9/13/2023; lot 21303) – sooner or later, that price realized will no longer be an outlier but instead be the going price for an example graded significantly lower than the note being offered today.
